13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi

13 hours

13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi is a 2014 historical action book by American author Mitchell Zuckoff. The book attempts to tell the truth about the terrorist attack by Islamist militants at the American diplomatic compound and the CIA station in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012 (9/11 anniversary). The book is an account from the point of view of the compound's defenders, a group of 6 GRS (Global Response Staff) operators who were private security contractors for the CIA. This book only tells the reader what happened during those 13 hours and does not discuss the political controversy surrounding the attacks. The book was later adapted into a feature film directed by Michael Bay in 2016.

This book tells the story of the heroism of the GRS operators and their attempt to rescue the USA ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith who both died in the attack. A few hours later the terrorists continued their attack on the CIA station, killing two additional US citizens Glen Doherty and Tyrone S. Woods, while many others were wounded.

This story about patriotism, bravery and duty is a must read and highly recommended. The book is available at AMAZON.
