A Storm of Swords is the third book from the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin. And so far, this is the longest book. It starts with the War of the Five Kings still going on. Renly is dead. No one takes Balon seriously. Stannis is defeated. Joffrey rules the Seven Kingdoms uneasily and Robb still fighting in the North. The highlight of this book is the massacre at the Red Wedding and the death of Robb and Catelyn at the hands of the Freys and Boltons who aligned themselves with the Lannisters via bribery and promises. The TV series pales in comparison with the detail provided here. The Stark army is completely defeated and you are left wondering what would happen to the other four Stark children. I really felt bad when I was reading this part. Robb was very much like his father, Ned, a man of honesty and integrity. Why do the Starks need to die in this story? Well, that is GRRM's call.
This is a very long read but I guarantee you that once you start, it is very hard to stop. So go ahead and grab this book and read on! You will appreciate that I told you this.
